9th Grade Independent Project:  due Monday, February 1, 2010

Michael:

Flush out your outline.  You have a lot of “filling in” to do.  You need to spell out the particulars of what you’re doing with each of the three periods and how you’re going to relate the social influences to the music.  For each element of your presentation outline, you can include a description of the media you intend to use rather than coming up with a separate list.  If you have ANY questions about this, email or call me.

With regard to your paper on the civil war, you need to rework your thesis statement about Sherman – what was the effect of Sherman’s March to the Sea?  What you have now addresses the fact that it contributed to the North’s ultimate victory.  This is not a point of controversy.  Perhaps you should look at the effect the March had on the South’s reaction to Reconstruction (and how there was not a second Civil War).  You need to turn in a typed outline for this paper on Monday and bring in five resource index cards – and some of your resources must include books (i.e., you can’t just use the Internet).
